BARISTA TRAINING

Nationally Accredited Barista Course

If you love coffee and want to expand your skill set, you can enrol in one of our upcoming Barista Training Courses! We offer the Nationally Accredited Training SITHFAB005 Prepare and serve espresso coffee at our Alstonville Campus using our very own coffee machine.

We help train many students, businesess and local cafes within areas such as:

  • Alstonville
  • Ballina
  • Byron Bay
  • Lismore
  • Yamba and other local communities

What you’ll learn

This training aims to teach you the basics of how to operate and troubleshoot using a commercial coffee machine and grinder. You’ll also learn how to:

  • Advise customers on coffee beverages
  • Select the right beans
  • Clean and maintain equipment

In addition, you will also be taught the basic hygiene and food handling requirements which are essential in any hospitality environment. This training results in a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for funding under the ACE Program you must be:

  • an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder, and
  • aged 15 years or older
  • not at school*, and
  • living or working in NSW
  • have a USI or be willing to obtain

* special conditions apply to ACE program for young people still at school. Please contact the College for further information.

ACE Program

The ACE Program is designed to target Disadvantaged Students across NSW, and students in Regional and Remote Communities in NSW that experience significant barriers to training and employment. Where there are barriers to accessing Smart and Skilled Entitlement training, ACE funding can be used to provide intensive support to assist eligible students to overcome these barriers. The ACE Program is a pathway program to help students access further training under Smart and Skilled, get a job or advance their careers.

Training mode: Face-to-face & online component

ACE Program Fee: Subsidised training – find out if you are eligible for FEE FREE Training 

*This training is subsidised by the NSW Government

Upon successful completion, you will obtain competency in units:

  • SITHFAB005 Prepare and serve espresso coffee
  • SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety – theory component to be completed online.

During your Barista Training, you must complete both theory and work experience components for assessment.
