AGED CARE TRAINING
CHCSS00114 Entry into Care Roles Skill Set
If you’re looking for some training within aged care and want to get a taste of what it is like to work within an aged or community care setting then this training will provide you with that experience and set you up with the skills needed to enter into the aged care industry.
This skill set addresses the skills and knowledge required to provide entry level support for basic client care for a range of roles and purposes required within the aged care and disability support sectors.
What you’ll learn
Students will learn practical skills through a combination of:
- Theory
- Multi-media presentations
- Hands-on practice with one another in the safety of the classroom
You will then have the opportunity to use those skills during workplace visits to a residential aged care facility with the experienced staff who work there and the residents themselves under the supervision of your trainer.
This short 6 week (2 days per week) course aims to help you gain the essential skills to kickstart your career and to help you to:
- Experience first-hand what it is like to work within a residential aged care facility
- Receive relevant industry qualifications
- Get access to training from an experienced aged care trainer and assessor
This course is limited to 12 students.

Pre-course requirements
Prior to the course you must complete or obtain proof of your:
NSW Police Check
Working with Children Check
NDIS Workers Screening
You can also apply or begin obtaining these requirements during orientation day on April 19, 2022.
Vaccination status
Students must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination as per current government requirements which includes: Third booster shot, current flu and NSW Health workers vaccination
Aged care training course details

Duration: 6 weeks – 2 days per week
Availability: Only 12 spots available
Training Mode: Face to face
Location: Yamba Campus at 4/13 Yamba Street, Yamba.
Course cost: FEE FREE if eligible for funding – if not, full cost is $990.

Statement of attainment
Upon successful completion, you will receive your statement of attainment in this aged care training course CHCSS00114 Entry into Care Roles Skill Set and obtain competency in the units:
- HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care
- CHCCCS015 Provide individualised support
- HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
These units of competency will also be transferable and can be used as credit towards a full qualification. This means, if you want to learn more after completing this training, you will not have to undertake these units again in the full qualification (unless an industry or qualification update occurs).
You will also be exposed to a number of key components including (but not limited to):
- Equipment usage
- Manual handling
- Hazard and incident reporting
- Understanding care planning
- Individual client needs
- Infection control & policies
