Nationally Accredited First Aid Training
This nationally accredited first aid certification aims to give you the essential skills and knowlege to provide basic first aid at home, in the community or at your workplace. Upon the successful completion of the course, you will gain your statement of attainment in HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. Your certification will then be valid for 3 years.
However, you will have to renew the CPR training component every 12 months to remain up to date.
What you’ll learn
Your experienced first aid instructor will teach you a variety of techniques and safety measures which reflect the current industry standards in training such as:
- Identifying potential hazards and risks to you and others when someone is injured or needs immediate attention
- Learning and practicing techniques to apply bandages or support to injuries such as cuts, damaged limbs, poisonous/venomous bites
- Identifying various medical conditions and how to provide support until medical personnel such as an ambulance arrives
- Providing CPR and much more

ACE Program
The ACE Program is designed to target Disadvantaged Students across NSW, and students in Regional and Remote Communities in NSW that experience significant barriers to training and employment. Where there are barriers to accessing Smart and Skilled Entitlement training, ACE funding can be used to provide intensive support to assist eligible students to overcome these barriers. The ACE Program is a pathway program to help students access further training under Smart and Skilled, get a job or advance their careers.

Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for funding under the ACE Program you must be:
- an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder, and
- aged 15 years or older
- not at school*, and
- living or working in NSW
- have a USI or be willing to obtain
- special conditions apply to ACE program for young people still at school. Please contact the College for further information.
The following criteria may also apply:
Barriers might include (but are not limited to) one of the following:
- limited employability skills
- ongoing personal issues impacting on educational achievement
- financial limitations in accessing childcare, transport and/or respite care
- low literacy, language, numeracy or computer skills.
Disadvantaged learners may include:
- students who are Commonwealth welfare recipients and their dependants
- people with a disability
- long term unemployed
- young people (15-17 years of age) who are at risk of not making a successful transition from school to further training or work
- migrant/refugees who are unemployed or underemployed
- people with other barriers to the Smart & Skilled entitlement program
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
- people in regional and remote communities.

First Aid Course details
Duration: 1 day + Pre-course work online
Various locations: Alstonville, Ballina, Byron Bay, Lismore & Yamba
Training mode: Face-to-face training + pre-course work online
Course cost: $0 (FEE FREE*) or $155.00
*ACE Program Fee: Subsidised training – find out if you are eligible for FEE FREE Training
*This training is subsidised by the NSW Government
Upon successful completion, you will obtain competency in units:
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (formerly HLTAID001)
- HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support (formerly HLTAID002)
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (formerly HLTAID003)
During your First Aid Training you will be required to complete two minutes of continuous CPR for assessment.
Precourse work
Prior to the day, students must complete a compulsory online first aid quiz accessed via the student learner portal. All other resources are provided on the day of the course.
