School Holidays Workshop

Workshop overview and funding

North Coast Community College (NCCC) have been gratefully awarded Grant Funding from the Office for Regional Youth’s Holiday Break program and NSW Government to run a Theatre Sports Workshop Event for 20 Flood affected students under the NSW Government Regional Youth – Winter Holiday Break 2022 program.

Theatre Sports for Creative Young People is a collaboration between North Coast Community College, Bangalow Theatre Group and Byron Casting. Workshop activities include Theatre Ice Breaker activities and Theatre Sports activities.

Theatre Sports are light-hearted improvisational theatre games and competitions where students work together in teams, taking turns to perform scenes using different scenarios for dramatic affect and humour.

The event is a one-day school holiday event from 10am-3pm for 20 students in year 10, 11 & 12 with lunch and snacks included.

Location: Alstonville campus – 494 Bruxner Highway, Alstonville 2477

What’s provided:

Lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided on the day.

Student Safety and Wellbeing

The workshop activities in this program are underpinned by the critical elements for wellbeing which includes a sense of belonging, meaningful connections and social inclusion. Workshops are delivered by experienced facilitators and trainers who understand the needs of the student cohort and support an equitable, inclusive and safe environment.

North Coast Community College is experienced in working a diverse range of people including those who have a disability, are disengaged or disadvantaged and we are an inclusive and culturally sensitive organization.

Student Safety is of utmost importance and North Coast Community College ensures that all facilitators, trainers and staff involved with the project have current Working with Children Checks.

North Coast Community College Holds Public Liability Insurance to $50,000 and we have completed a risk assessment for this project. The above-mentioned documents were submitted and approved as part of the funding application and are available on request.
